A picture is worth a thousand words, this is certainly true in the art pieces of my next guest.  The attention given in her colorful creations is vibrant, inspiring and playful, not to mention she has an eye to capture natures detail with her paint brush.

Meet Chris Bonilla, owner of Chris Bonilla Art.

A little about Chris, she has been creating since she was old enough to hold a pencil! She is a mixed media artist with an extensive background in painting and drawing. Nature is her greatest inspiration as well as Scandinavian design. For many years, she has been obsessing over plants and flowers and you will see that in her gorgeous work. Chris is also a mom that loves music, hiking, and exploring new places.

MY INTERVIEW WITH CHRIS BONILLA

Q1.  What did you want to be growing up?

An Artist. My mom was an artist and she always encouraged creative play. 

Q2. What is your ideal atmosphere to paint in? 

Eventually I would love to have a big greenhouse/art studio. I love plants and the light would be amazing! 

Q3. Your art is phenomenal, where do you get your inspiration?

I spent a lot of time outdoors growing up so I’m kind of a flower child. I always say, “I will forever be inspired by nature” and I never run out of ideas.

Q4. Do you have any secrets or strategy that has worked for you as an artist?

I would say that I focus on my strengths. You want to be good at everything but in art it’s all about finding that balance between what comes natural to you and what you want to create. 

Q5. What core values are most important to you in your life?

I just listen for God in my life and do my best to protect and respect nature. I also encourage others to share their gifts boldly!

Q6. What does success mean to you as a powerful / determined woman?

To be authentic and true to yourself. When you let your light shine doors open. People are drawn to whatever it is you are trying to put out into the world. 

   

Q7. Tell me how you process workload stress or personal stress or just too much coming at you at one time? Ex: Exercise, Meditation, Paint, Draw, Design, Creating or all the above.

If possible, I get outside and just play! In my garden or go for a hike, make sidewalk chalk drawings, collect rocks or shells, listen to music and make friendship bracelets with my daughter. The simple things help me to decompress. 

Q8. If you could speak to one woman from history, who would it be?

Maya Angelou so much beautiful wisdom. 

Q9. What paint do you prefer to use?

Liquitex acrylic and Golden mediums
