With summer here we all need a way of incorporating alternative wellness practices in when it gets hot out. I had the opportunity to walk into a studio located downtown in my community and it blew me away with all that she had to offer. Her services sparked an interest and I wanted to know more, so I asked her if I could do an interview. Of course, she said Yassssss 🖤 Now I make it at point to visit it on a regular basis, especially for the oxygen bar, lol.

So, let’s meet Zara San Miguel – Owner of Studio23 Ink, she is the 1st interview I have ever done with someone from my hometown. There are so many hidden gems in this town and it’s so exciting to get to meet them on a daily basis.

MY INTERVIEW WITH ZARA SAN MIGUEL

Q1.   What did you want to be growing up?

Growing up I was always intrigued with science and anything that had to do with the medical field. I was convinced I would become a doctor one day, lol. At the age of 13 volunteered (called a candy striper back then) at the hospital in Panama City, Fl. I was trained in the cardiology department to do EKG’s on patients and also worked in the nursery. When I wasn’t doing that, I worked in a doctor’s office with a multitude of responsibilities. So, as you can see, the medical field was a passion of mine. Little did I know that life’s circumstances would lead me to a career in pharmacy for 25 years. After 18 years at HEB Pharmacy and helping so many, I longed for more.  I dreamed of having flexibility for my family, I wanted to help people in my own way and not to mention, be my own boss. I started preparing and decided to start from home, while working full time at the pharmacy. As time went by, I built my clients base up enough to rent a small public room. Then for an additional year after that, I kept up the momentum and growth until I found my own place in the heart of Bay City! When I found my spot, it took 4 months of blood, sweat, tears and very hard work to open up the studio of my dreams. Now I am finally living in my purpose and making a point to be a light in someone’s life daily.

Q2. At Studio 23 Ink, what services do you offer?

Studio23 ink offers a wide variety of services. I am a Beauty, Health & Wellness studio. Built on faith!  It’s a love and desire of mine to help empower, encourage women and just people in general.

Q3. Out of all the services you offer, which one do you enjoy doing the most?

Its so hard to pick just one service that I enjoy the most. But I would say the most rewarding would be my Non-Invasive Tummy Tucks because I love seeing the motivation in my clients when I send them their before and after pics. They walk away with more confidence, feeling comfortable in their skin and looking slimmer. It also gives me a good amount of time to get to know each one of my clients, to share our stories and create bonds.

Q4. What advice would you give to a new business owners?

My advice to new business owners would be to always put God first and never give up on your dreams. Keep pushing forward whether you see the support or not. Do not get discouraged! Consistency is key. Celebrate the small victories. Growth takes TIME and HARD WORK. Be patient.

Q5. What core values are most important to you as a leader?

My core values would definitely be to keep God number one in your business, He will get you thru any obstacles that come your way. As a business owner, I strive to be the best I can be for my clients and to provide them with the best care. I am always working on ways I can do better and provide MORE!

Q6. What does success mean to you as a powerful / determined woman?

Success for me is being able to touch and inspire peoples lives thru my story and show them that they too are capable of reaching their goals in life.

Q7. How do you handle the fear of failure when taking risks in your business?

There will always be a fear of failure in business. But what I always tell myself is that there are never failures in life, only lessons. Life is a never-ending classroom, and you will always be the student. Take what you learn from every obstacle / lesson and use it to KEEP GOING.

Favorite quote is actual a bible verse…

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.
