MY INTERVIEW WITH HEIDI ANDERSON
Q1. What did you want to be growing up?
I wanted to be an actress or work in radio believe it our not. I used to set up a fake radio studio in the study with my friend and we would pretend to have our own radio show.
Q2. What do you think are the three biggest mistakes women make when it comes to achieving their goals?
- We put so much pressure on ourselves to achieve them that sometimes we get so focused on the end result we stop to smell the roses and that is something I a trying to do this year. Stop, smell and embrace.
- We strive for perfection in all areas of life, whether its the way we look, our careers, parenting styles, achieving our goals etc Accepting our imperfections doesn’t come easy to us and we tend to be much harder on ourselves than anyone else. I love the quote “I am imperfectly perfect.”
- Comparison is the their of joy and this one has played a huge part in my anxiety journey. We are sometime so focused on what everyone else is doing that we aren’t giving ourselves the attention and love we need to. My mate Luke said to me one of the greatest pieces of advice when I was constantly comparing myself to others, he said “When you’re in a running race, what happens when you look behind you at everyone else? You slow down. They get closer and closer. Don’t stop and definitely don’t look back, you are running your own race.”
Q3. What is one of your most treasured accomplishments?
Overcoming anxiety and continuing to work through it everyday to better myself and live the best life possible. When I hit rock bottom in 2015 I didn’t think I would ever feel this good again. Understanding, speaking out and healing from anxiety as been my greatest accomplishment, I now speak in front of crowds about overcoming it. In the thick of it, I stopped my TV and public speaking and during the radio show I was having panic attacks, today I mentor and coach people going through the same thing.
Q4. What are your favorite quotes?
“You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have.” Bob Marley
Or
One by my good friend Tracey:
“Don’t outshine women, shine for them.”
Q5. With being a mum, wife, coaching, videos and blog, how do you juggle it all?
I don’t know to be honest ha ha
No… recently I have started working with friends and outsourcing things that would normally take me hours that might take them half the time and they give me mates rates. I couldn’t do all the editing and uploading etc so I try and focus on the content and outsource the not so fun stuff. But when you LOVE what you do, it doesn’t feel like work.
Time management is a big one for me and having Heidi time in between also.
I need to exercise, meditate, eat, hang with my fiancé and yoga in between all of my commitments otherwise I am an asshole. I get short and abrupt if I am tried and haven’t had Heidi time.
Q6. What motivates you?
Helping and connecting with people.
Q7. Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming successful?
To what do you most attribute your success?
Hard work and passion! If you want something you give it your all, thats what my parents taught me. They said I could be and do anything I put my mind to and thats what I will teach my kids.
Q8. What is your favorite vacation spot?
We (my husband & I) love Bali and the people there.
Q9. If you could talk to one woman from history, who would it be and why?
My Nan, I loved her sense of humor so much and her love for life. We were such good mates, I wish I could speak to her more about her life and the way she viewed life. She was 96 when she passed and we had super special bond.
Q10. Please share with our tribe of Women, one piece of advice you have received which has helped you throughout your journey & continues to help you?
I Fake it until you make it! To make changes you need to start to embody it and that means sometimes pretending “You got it” when you don’t at all. I have had to do the many times. When I promised Id start to love myself, I first had to fake it! Now I am embodying that love and I feel it!!! You’ve got to start somewhere why not fake it for a while. You have to do the work though, thats the kicker. It wont juts happen, false it whilst you put tools in to practice.
