MY INTERVIEW WITH RENEE ROGERS
Q1. What did you want to be growing up?
At a very young age I knew I wanted to be in some type of creative field. I was never able to envision myself behind a desk with a routine. Originally, at that time around the age of 8 I thought I wanted to be a cartoonist – I’d spend hours drawing. But by the time I was 14, I had this idea to design my own princess Halloween costume. My mom took me to the fabric store and let me pick out whatever I wanted that would help make this vision come to life. We then sought out a seamstress and went through several fittings (I was a perfectionist). It was then I realized that this was an actual job and what I wanted to pursue.
Q2. Who is Renee Rogers?
An artist. Above all I think of myself as an artist and always have. It’s engrained in me. Everything that I do falls under that umbrella whether it’s fashion designer, filmmaker, photographer. And in my personal life as well I try to create a world that is visual inspiring and creative.
Q3. You are a Filmmaker, Photographer, and Fashion Designer which to me, you are the definition of amazing! What is your secret to being able to wear so many hats?
Thanks so much! For me the secret is loving what I do. Every morning I’m grateful that creating things is my life on the daily. I’m constantly excited about it and always looking to push myself. I design clothes for my customers and produce films for clients but I also do those exact things for myself because I can’t help but want to do it all the time.
Q4. Any future collaborations you want to share for 2017?
I produce a video series called Hanger Shortage where I interview and highlight some badass women who are designers, entrepreneurs, and artists. We discuss their personal style but also dive deep into how they’ve achieved their goals and built their brands and businesses. I don’t want to say any names but, definitely check out the videos on the site and stay tuned for some exciting ones in the near future.
