MY INTERVIEW WITH KHADIJA SABBAR

Q1.What did you want to be growing up?

Growing up, I wanted to be a professional tennis player. I started playing tennis when I was 9 years old and was passionate about it. Unfortunately, I had to stop playing when I was 16 due to a knee injury. Although it was disappointing to have to give up tennis, it allowed me to focus on other interests and opportunities. Nevertheless, I still have a great appreciation for the sport and follow it closely.

Q2. Tell us all about WALILI LIVING.

Walili Living is an online store that specializes in Moroccan decor that is outsourced from Morocco. We offer a wide range of products, including handmade rugs, authentic décor, intricate ceramics, handmade serve-ware, beautiful textiles, and stunning furniture pieces. Our team is passionate about bringing the beauty and artistry of Moroccan design to customers all over the world. We carefully source all our products directly from artisans and craftspeople in Morocco, ensuring that each item is of the highest quality and authenticity. Whether you’re looking to add a touch of exotic elegance to your home or office or searching for the perfect gift for a loved one, we have something to suit every taste and budget.

Q4. What traits, characteristics or strengths do you feel are required to pursue excellence as a business owner to be successful?

To pursue excellence as a business owner and be successful, there are several traits, characteristics, and strengths that are essential.

Firstly, you need to have a strong work ethic and be willing to put in the time and effort required to build and grow a successful business.

Secondly, being adaptable and having a willingness to learn and evolve is crucial. The business landscape is constantly changing, and you need to be able to adapt to new technologies, market trends, and consumer behaviors to stay competitive.

Lastly, having resilience and perseverance is essential. Running a business can be challenging, and you may face setbacks and obstacles along the way. It’s important to stay positive, maintain focus on your goals, and be persistent in pursuing them. Overall, pursuing excellence as a business owner and being successful requires a combination of hard work, adaptability, and resilience.

Q5. What is Moroccan decor?

Moroccan decor is a style of interior design that originates from the North African country of Morocco. It is characterized by vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and a mix of different textures, such as leather, wool, and silk.

Some of the typical elements of Moroccan decor include ornate tile work, handmade rugs, carved woodwork, and geometric patterns. Moroccan decor also often includes a variety of metalwork, such as lanterns, tea sets, and other decorative objects.

The style is heavily influenced by Islamic art and architecture, and many of the design elements reflect this. The use of natural materials and warm earthy tones, like oranges, reds, and yellows, is also common in Moroccan decor.

Overall, Moroccan decor is known for its bold and exotic look, and it’s a popular choice for people who want to add a touch of vibrancy and luxury to their homes.

Q6. How do you process workload stress or personal stress or just to much coming at you all at one time?

When it comes to managing workload stress or personal stress, I find that meditation and journaling are very effective for me. Meditation helps me to clear my mind, focus on my breath, and let go of any negative thoughts or emotions. It also helps me to approach challenges with a calmer and more centered mindset.
Journaling is another tool that I use to manage stress. I find that writing down my thoughts and feelings can be a great way to process them and gain some perspective. It also helps me to identify patterns and triggers that may be contributing to my stress and come up with strategies for addressing them.

Of course, everyone is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. Some people may find that exercise is a great way to relieve stress, while others may prefer creative activities like painting or playing music. The key is to find activities that you enjoy and that help you to feel relaxed and grounded.

Q7. If you could speak to one woman from history, who would it be?

If I could speak to one woman from history, it would be Eleanor Roosevelt. I have always admired her as a strong and influential leader, who used her position as First Lady to advocate for human rights, women’s rights, and social justice.

Eleanor Roosevelt was an incredible woman who faced many challenges and obstacles throughout her life, but she always remained committed to her principles and values. She was a fierce advocate for civil rights and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of marginalized communities.

I would have loved to have the opportunity to speak with her and hear her insights on the current state of the world, and how we can continue to fight for equality and justice. Her wisdom, experience, and dedication to making the world a better place would undoubtedly be an inspiration to me and to many others. 

Q8. Any exciting projects coming you want to discuss?

Yes, we have an exciting new project in the works! We are currently integrating a full Moroccan living room furniture into our store. This means that customers will now have the option to purchase a complete living room set, which includes a sofa, chairs, tables, and other decorative elements.

Our goal is to make it easier for our customers to design and decorate their living spaces, by offering a cohesive and curated selection of furniture and decor items. We believe that this service will be a game-changer for our store, and we’re excited to see the response from our customers.

We’re working with some great suppliers and designers to create the perfect living room sets. Overall, we’re excited to be expanding our store’s offerings and providing our customers with even more options to create beautiful and functional living spaces.
