MY INTERVIEW WITH KAMILA MATTHEWS
Q1. What did you want to be growing up?
Growing up I always envisioned myself running a company creating ideas and doing what I love. From very early on I was always fascinated with art and anything that revolved around fashion. I had the privilege of living in different cities around the world since I was a child, so I was able to grasp onto different cultures and understand different perspectives of style.
Q2. Tell us all about your life as an entrepreneur?
Life as an entrepreneur has its challenges as well as exciting moments. But most of all it’s extremely rewarding. I love hearing from my customers and having conversations with them. As Astrid is still a growing company, expanding the team, and solving day to day challenges.
Q3. What do you think are the three biggest mistakes women make when it comes to achieving their goals?
- One of the biggest mistakes women make when it comes to reaching their goals is that they create a goal that is so large that they have no idea how to execute it, get burnt out, and end up quitting before they even start.
- Secondly, the biggest mistake I commonly see is self doubt. When you doubt yourself you lose the confidence, the drive, and the passion to achieve any and every goal.
- Lastly, focus on one goal at a time. Start small. When you achieve one small simple goal after the other, it will spiral and will become second nature to crush every goal you set.
Q4. What is one of your most treasured accomplishments?
Being the Founder & CEO of Astrid and watching the growth of my very own company that was once only servicing offline to clients but now online, which is now on a much larger scale and reaches many women throughout the world. Hearing our members stories on how their style has evolved, refined, and matured through Astrid is extremely rewarding.
Q5. What is your favorite quote?
“It’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen.”
– Scott Belsky, co-founder of Behance
Q6. Tell us a little about one thing that lights you up inside?
Waking up everyday loving what I do and knowing the future is full of great surprises to come.
Q7. Do you have a secret to your amazing look and what motivates you?
It takes work to continuously have a motivated mindset but if you find people you admire and emulate how they have succeeded, you will learn and develop that daily motivation you have always desired.
Q8. Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming successful? To what do you most attribute your success?
There is no secret pattern or formula for success. I believe you just need to keep going forward, learn from trials and errors, and obtain the ability to always listen to any & every feedback. One of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned from Astrid is to again and again ask users questions, take their feedback and work the problems into quick solutions.
Q9. As a Beautiful women wearing many hats, how do you handle workload stress?
I think it’s important to take time for yourself, meditate, regroup, and constantly set new goals. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I tell myself to keep looking at the big picture, ask myself what is my main goal. Doing this everyday drives stress away and helps to push me that much further to my goal.
Q10. If you could talk to one woman from history, who would it be and why?
Great question, there are so many women from history that I would love to get the chance to pick their brains, but the quickest one that comes to mind is Elizabeth I. When I think of daily challenges my team and I have to face, I realize it is so small in comparison to someone that came from a time of fighting much bigger issues like defeating the Spanish Armada.
Q11. Please share with our tribe of Women, one piece of advice you have received which has helped you throughout your journey & continues to help you?
The best advice that I would impart is to find a good mentor that can help you with business whether that means teaching you about marketing or how to best locate capital. A life coach is also a great way to help you through this journey of life. Talking to people and surrounding yourself with people that can give constructive advice is so important. This has helped and has continued to help me build stepping stones to success and mold me into the person I strive to become.
