MY INTERVIEW WITH RACHEL FISCHER

Q1. What did you want to be growing up?

When I was growing up, I really wanted to be a veterinarian. After finding out that sometimes the animal passes away, I soon realized that wasn’t the job for me.

Q2. Tell us all about you and the story of how you have gotten to this point in your life?

I’ve always been that one friend out of the group who always had their point-and-shoot camera in their purse at all times. To me, it has always been a fun way to create moments we would never forget.

As I got older, I had purchased my very first DSLR camera. Yeah, it was only five-hundred dollars but the quality of photos were a MILLION times better than my cheap point-and-shoot. So, I would take my camera on vacation just to capture the memories.

In 2016, I realized that maybe there was more than just taking photos of my personal life. I thought to myself, “Why don’t I create moments with other people?” And then it all clicked. Being so fortunate to live in a city that collaborates and endorses each other in our professions, I have had an enormous amount of opportunities to work with name brands and companies to get the ball rolling on my photography business.

Today I specialize in Brand Photography. I work with a lot of local businesses around the valley as well as international companies like Best Western Hotels & Resorts. It has been such an amazing ride getting to where I am and excited for the bigger opportunities in the future.

Q3. What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue photography or be a photographer?

One thing I would say is experiment and try things out. I think it’s important to try out different styles and types of photography to truly know what you love capturing.

Q4. What is one of your most treasured accomplishments?

One of my most treasured accomplishments was landing a client such as Best Western. In my journal years ago I would write how I would love to take photos of hotels and travel the world to different locations. Having this opportunity to work with them is just one step closer to making my dreams a reality.

Q5. Do you have any beauty secrets that you swear by?

For me, this might sound like common sense but sleeping 7 or more hours is crucial. Your body needs to have that rest to recover and conquer the next day.

Q7. What is your favorite type of photo shoot?

My favorite type of photoshoot is when the production team is having fun during the shoot while creating fire content.

Q9. Any future collaborations you want to share?

I actually have a side project I’ve been working on but that’s a secret I will share soon!
