It is Mother’s Day Weekend and I am ready to celebrate!!!!!  I hope all the Mother’s out there have an amazing weekend, noticed I said weekend because you deserve to celebrate the entire thing!  I repeat: YOU DESERVE IT!!

My long awaited interview with The one and only @dallasshaw and you are gonna LOVE it!❤️ Dallas is the most sought after fashion illustrator in the industry, acting as: artist project designer and style ambassador to the most powerful fashion houses💕
It was only a few short years ago that Dallas Shaw was an aspiring Disney artist who took a sharp turn on her career path, driving full speed and straight toward fashion-industry royalty.
Her client list seems almost unreal. She’s THE girl designers, beauty brands and even travel companies call, and call back, to lend drawings and style expertise at the beginning of every important product launch. You could call her the Olivia Pope of the fashion industry!

Every company knows her, and every brands wants her. Her back story is awe-inspiring and will make you want to quit your 9 to 5 and chase your wildest dreams. Her social channels act as motivation for every dreamer. Her personal style drives you to throw out all of your old fashion rules, take your collectors’ pieces off of the shelf and live in them.
Dallas Shaw has viewers everywhere in love with ripped denim, neon script, pink birds – whatever that “thing” is that her artistic eye is drawn to. If she’s into it this week, she’s got the rest of the industry onboard and lusting over it with her.

She is an artist, a brand ambassador, a creative director, a boss, a tv personality, and an inspiration. In addition to her day job(s), her personal style is watched closely by 300,000 faithful fashion followers, checking her social websites daily for as much art, fashion, beauty, and travel content they can get their eyes on. In her spare time, she’s pinning and tweeting all of the whimsy. She shares every moodboard, color palette and million-dollar project online (along with the occasional joke). Followers consider Shaw their insiders’ secret, following her every move from the tip of her pencil to the bottoms of her Louboutins (Yes, he’s also one of her clients.)

Episode # 28

MY INTERVIEW WITH DALLAS SHAW

Q1. What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be an artist- I can’t remember ever wanting to do anything else and I started making it all happen very young.

Q2. Who is Dallas Shaw? Describe her?
Dreamer. Creator. Friend. Pretty much sums it up.

Q3. After you had the idea to start your business, what was your first step to make it a reality?
I started freelancing for online clients and fashion clients at the same time and continued to do that until I could make a steady income. Once I knew about how much I could bring in monthly I left my job and went full time- I’m lucky to say I’ve been full time since and have a growing team of creative chicks at my side to help me out.

Q4. How did you support yourself when you were in the beginning stages of launching your business?
I didn’t leave my job until I knew for certain I could go full time with confidence- which meant I had two full time jobs for a long time. But I’m happy busy. Even now I’m starting a new branch so I’m always trying new projects but not committing until I’m sure I can monetize it all.

Q5. How did you get started in the fashion industry and what advice do you have to other women looking to succeed in it?

I worked for free for a while, I’m a firm believer in proving myself when needed. You can’t teach work ethic and I’m an anything-it-takes person. I’d advise every girl who really wants in to do whatever it takes to prove your dedication to a tough industry.

Q6. What motivates you?
I surround myself with hard working friends and talented designers. they keep me on my toes every second of every day.

Q7. Who is your favorite designer?

Right now Gucci, Isabel Marant ..that will change season to season

Q8. What is your favorite part about running your own business?

I get to take the projects that inspire me and pass on those that don’t excite me. I can also choose only to work with good-hearted people in the industry.

Q9. What is the most challenging part of running your own business?

There are always new challenges. Right now it’s keeping everything running smoothly while on the go. I’m currently on book tour and haven;t gotten to spend much time in office. Learned to work long distance and from hotel rooms isn’t as glamorous as it sounds.

Q10. In your career so far, what would you say is your proudest moment ?
Definitely the launch of my new book The Way She Wears it. We hit best seller list on day two. I’m still in shock.

Q11. What advice do you have for other aspiring women entrepreneurs?

Do something. People tell me everyday about the things they want to do…but I see them months later and they haven’t done any of those. Just start.

Q12. What is your favorite Quote?

“The heart is not so easily changed, but the head can be persuaded.”
Q13. What is your favorite outfit to wear?

I’m a ripped jeans/ sneaks kind of girl, but with tons of accessories.

Q14. Do you like to read? If so, what are you reading now?
I do. I’m reading the Subtle Art of Not Giving a f*ck, by Mark Manson, which I love thus far.

Q15. Any new collaborations in 2017 besides your new BOOK Launch?

Oh yes, always! I can’t share the company name yet but I can say it will be Lacey 🙂
